Gianna-isms III

Because I can't get enough of what this little girl says:

.:a conversation in the Target bathroom:.
GIANNA
Is God in heaven?
GRACE
God is everywhere.
GIANNA
God is in Target?
GRACE
Yes, God is in Target.
GIANNA
Oh.

.:van ride conversation:.
GIANNA
James is my life.
GRACE
You're James' wife?
GIANNA
No, James is my life because he loves me so much.
GRACE
James is your cousin.
GIANNA
I know.

.:before bedtime:.
When the sun rises, do we get to have gravy?

.:to Lola:.
You're a good clean-girl.
(Those of you who know how much my mom loves to clean will understand this statement.)

.:craftime:.
GIANNA
Can I have some hanitizer, please?
GRACE
Some what?
GIANNA
Hanitizer.
GRACE
What do you need?
GIANNA
HAN-I-TI-ZER!
GRACE
Do you mean hand sanitizer?
GIANNA
Yes, hanitizer.

Summer Sippin'

We love this recipe for sangria:

1.5 liters red table wine
1 cup grenadine

2 cups cranberry juice cocktail

1 1/4 cups sweet vermouth

sugar water (1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water)
strawberries (cut into thirds)
orange (sliced thin and quartered)

Mix all the ingredients.
Let sit in refrigerator at least 4-5 hours, if not overnight.
Pour into serving glasses, then add ice.
Makes 1 gallon.
Sangria , my favorite by ilkerender.

It's perfect for the summer season.
Make some - I promise you'll love it!

You and I

If I could play and sing,
I would play and sing this song to the husband.
I really would.

Better yet, I would make him play and sing it WITH me.

Cinnamon Roll Cheesecake

This just might push me over to my next jeans size:
Ever since this chick made these for Gianna's birthday and came over to make these for lunch, she's been one of my cooking heroes.
So when she blogged about this ridiculousness, I had to make it.

The Cinnamon Roll Cheesecake.

Make it as soon as possible.
I kid you not.

Waffle Wonderment

We made waffles from scratch for the first time ever yesterday.
Oh. My. Goodness.
Please, please, please make this at your earliest convenience.
Your belly and the bellies of those around you will be so thankful.
How can your day not start fantastically with a plate of these?

Homemade Buttermilk Waffles
2 cups flour
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups buttermilk, low-fat
1 stick butter, with salt, melted
2 eggs
1 pint strawberries, sliced
1 cup maple syrup

Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda.
In a small bol, whisk together buttermilk, butter, and eggs.
Add to flour mixture and stir until combined (it will still be clumpy).
Heat waffle iron and spray with cooking spray.
Pour batter into center of iron leaving 1/2 to 1 inch border.
Cook according to iron.
Serve topped with strawberries and good maple syrup.
