Very thankful for thoughtful friends walking this marriage journey alongside me:

A very belated PS but I meant to tell you last week how much I love seeing/hearing how in love you are with your husband!!  I am the same way, and it's just really refreshing to hear that in the midst

I Love Blogs Because of Posts Like This

The whole thing is amazing,
but here are a few of my favorite parts:

...“Loving the poor” doesn’t always have to be scary like “befriending the homeless” or “moving my family to Haiti”, it can be (and often starts as) something small; like teaching a child to read, to use silverware, or just to be present with someone who is suffering. I do believe however, that finding

Where Did The Summer Go?

Leaves and Sunlight at Dawn
I rarely make New Year's Resolutions because I never keep them.
I feel like fall is a great time for new starts - new beginnings - new routines.
Summer is full of pajama days and lackadaisical schedules.
All that is coming to an end for us in the next few weeks, so we're soaking it up while we can.

In preparation for its arrival (and in hopes of making myself feel better about the end of the season),

A Stirring In My Heart

Sundays have been the time when I've felt the most turmoil in my soul.  Coming home from Haiti takes one day.  On Saturday I can be in Haiti, surrounded by tragedy and grave injustice.  On Sunday I can sit in my home church.  It's like being in a movie theater, watching a scary, disturbing movie then walking down the hall, a few doors down into a Disney movie.  It's hard to process.  It's also hard to stay in my seat or listen.  What I want to do is stand up and tell people what is going on a

Maileen's Journey - August 3

July 2008
Thank you for your encouraging words and prayers...we meet with the Dr. tomorrow to talk about the results. We looked at the scans ourselves from the CD I requested of the images. Peter and I compared the April 21st results and yesterday's images (Aug 2nd), and we thought the grey spot was half the size and the other little spots were gone or smaller as well. We are predicting more chemo. So we are taking advantage of this down time to travel and see family and friends in MI for 5 days.

All Day Long

Sure my ToDo List is long and strong,
but I'd much rather share these jewels of awesomeness with you:

Gianna, be positive.

Treasure Box

Look what Bill found!
A treasure box!  What could be inside?
Lots and lots of letters and notes and cards and pictures -
who could they be from?
